Judith Dember-Paige

A Certified Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist in the Westchester NY area, serving Children and Adults with Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders since 2009, involving behaviors and patterns created by inappropriate muscle function involving the tongue, lips, jaw and face. Tongue thrust being the most common, open mouth lips resting posture can detract from pleasing facial appearance. Coincidentally, this therapy may have a positive impact on the appearance.

Myofunctional therapy for tongue thrusting, open mouth posture, digit sucking may be referred to a qualified therapist like Judith for a variety of functional reasons. If a patient already has braces or retainers, correcting the myofunctional disorder can help stabilize the orthodontic results. Myofunctional therapy creates orofacial muscle balance and function, with the goal of lasting a lifetime.

She is retired from dental hygiene after 35 years and practices myofunctional therapy exclusively in Westchester, NY. She lectures, writes professional articles and has done research on the importance of a thorough orofacial myofunctional assessment (FAIREST). She treats OMD’s with therapy and refers patients for orthodontic intervention. She has her own practice in Westchester NY, where she and her husband raised 4 children. Her collaborative practice approach has proven successful when treating orofacial myofunctional disorders. She is the former Education CoChair, of the IAOM (International Association Orofacial Myology) 2020-22. Judith also created a children’s dental health curriculum called, “Smile Wide Look Inside, Nicole’s Trip to the Dental Office.” Her book is also available in Spanish.
